Our G1C is a compact wired GPS tracker for vehicles, from cars and vans to motorbikes, scooters and e-bikes. Its small size is particularly useful on two wheels, where there’s less room to work with. It’s straightforward to wire in and uses little power, making it a practical choice for everyday riding.

Small tracker, more room to fit it

The G1C measures 78 × 33 × 15 mm and weighs 40 g. At less than 8 cm long and just 1.5 cm thick, it can fit into spaces that would be awkward for a larger tracker. Its GPS and cellular antennas are built in, so there are no separate antenna units to install.

Depending on your vehicle, you may be able to mount it beneath the seat or behind a suitable body panel. Allow room for the cable, secure the unit away from heat and moving parts, and check GPS reception before finishing the installation.

Two connections for power

The G1C needs DC power and ground. A suitable 12V DC supply is a straightforward way to power it, and its 9–90V DC input range gives you flexibility across different vehicle electrical systems. Once fitted, it runs from the vehicle’s power, with no routine removal for charging.

Choose a supply that remains available when the vehicle is parked if you want continued tracking then. Follow the installation instructions supplied with your G1C for wiring and circuit protection, and activate your ShieldGPS service before use.

For an e-bike or electric scooter, check the available connection rather than assuming the lights or battery provide a suitable supply. An installer can confirm compatibility and whether an adapter is needed. If you remove the battery for charging, remember that a tracker powered by that battery loses its external supply too.

Lower power consumption when parked

When the vehicle is stationary, the G1C switches to lower-power operation to reduce the load on its battery. Average current consumption at 12V is:

  • 25 mA while moving.
  • 4 mA while stationary, around 84% less than while moving.

The G1C keeps its power demand low even when your vehicle stays parked for an extended period. At the stated stationary average, it uses approximately 0.096 Ah per day.

For example, take a fully charged 8 Ah motorcycle battery, such as the Yuasa YTX9-BS. With the bike stationary throughout, the G1C would use around 1.34 Ah over two weeks, just 17% of its rated capacity.

Keep an eye on your vehicle with ShieldGPS

Once activated, the G1C lets you check your vehicle’s latest reported position, review location history and set up geofence alerts for places such as its usual parking area.

If you’re unsure where to fit the G1C or how to power it on your vehicle, contact ShieldGPS support before installing it.
